Wild Cards Universe
Has anyone read this book yet and want to discuss it? :)|
Hadn't realised it was out yet.
How does it compare to Inside Straight?

Ok, I tried to reply from the email, but I don't think it worked, so I'll try it this way. I'm not very deft with using LJ. Here is the reply I tried to send:
It's got some nice twists and surprises in store. If you haven't read it, I won't spoil you, but it's well worth the read. It definitely feels like the Wild Cards of old...lots of character driven plots, enough action to keep things rolling, and...totally evil foreshadowing! LOL!
It's good. There were a couple of niggles (for example, Noel's use of words like 'gas' and 'garbage', despite being British and even when in Britain was jarring, and I was not convinced that one of the UN interventions was really credible). But these are very minor. And it has Billy Ray in it. (Ah, when I think about how much I used to hate that character...)
I used to hate Billy Ray too. I was actually rooting for Messer to take him all the way out, way back when. But the writers for this series are very good, and adept at twisting things to make you go - HUH?!?!?! Like what they're doing with the Angel of Death.
The funny thing is, I recall John Jos. Miller telling me that he didn't like Billy much to start with either. But then he started to grow on him...
